Job Description Summary:
The Certified First Assistant in Surgery (CFA) provides assistance to the surgeon or group of surgeons during an operative procedure as a first or second assistant providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, and other technical functions that will help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.Responsibilities And Duties:
Provides assistance to the surgeon providing exposure, hemostasis, and other technical skills. Provides wound exposure through proper use of retractors so surgeon may clearly view operative site. Through use of suction and sponges, provides a dry field of operation to permit optimum vision of tissue, viscera, vessels, etc. Provides hemostasis by use of clamps, cautery, ligation Completes closure of fascia, subcutaneous tissue and skin under the direction of the surgeon Competent in 4-6 service lines, one of which must be advanced orthopedics, soft tissue robotics, complex cardiovascular, or neurosurgery (cranial). Assumes other tasks of a similar nature or level of responsibility when assigned by supervising physician.Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's Degree: Surgical TechnologyBLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, CST - Certified Surgical Tech - The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical AssistingAdditional Job Description:

Certified First Assistant - Monday through Thursday, Night Shift working 8pm-6am at Pickerington Methodist Hospital
$7,500 SIGN ON BONUS
External applicants may be eligible for a $7,500 sign-on bonus with a one-year work commitment. Previously employed applicants who have been gone from the organization more than 90 days may also be eligible.
